What are the advantages of using a customs broker?

A: A customs broker will ensure import and export compliance with customs regulations and legislation. A Customs Broker can facilitate the entry and clearance on the importer’s behalf and classify goods according to the WCO Harmonized Tariff Schedule to apply duties and taxes accordingly.

Q: What documents are the minimum required for customs clearance?

A:

  • Tax Idenfication Number (TIN) or National Identification Number (NIN);
  • Commercial Invoice (Proforma Invoices not accepted by customs);
  • Packing List;
  • Bill of Lading/Airway Bill;
  • Freight Invoice (if freight is not included or stipulated on commercial invoice)
  • Insurance Invoice (if importer pays for insurance)

Q: I'm a first-time importer and I don't know where to begin, can Swift Kargo Delivery assist?

A: Yes, Swift Kargo Delivery will guide you through the entire import and customs clearance process and ensure the efficient and swift clearance.

Q: Can you import your goods without the services of a customs broker?

A: You can import up to SCR 3,000.00 without the assistance of a Customs Broker. Should the value exceed SCR 3,000.00 but not exceed SCR 5,000.00 the goods will be subjected to taxes after the deduction of your SCR 3,000.00 personal allowance. Goods exceeding SCR 5,000.00 require a Customs Broker for clearance and are subject to tax.

Q: Is any way can I check how much customs duty and customs VAT amount charged by customs on my shipment?

A: After your customs clearance has been processed, we can send you the customs bill of entry to your email. On the bill of entry, there will be a detail about customs duty, excise tax, VAT and levies. If you need clarification on calculation we can go through the bill of entry with you and explain all calculation for your understanding.

Q: How long will it take to clear my shipment?

A: We clear your air freight customs clearance within 5 days and sea freight customs clearance within 10 days from receipt of completed documents and information for us to process your customs import declaration.

Q: Can my goods overseas be collected and shipped?

A: Yes, Swift Kargo Delivery can organize collection of any cargo and shipped to Seychelles.

Q: Are there restrictions on what items can be imported into ...?

A: As per the Restricted and Prohibited List certain items are completely prohibited from entry or require an import permit. Latest Restricted and Prohibited, S.I 41 of 2019 – Customs Management Act
